First simplify both sides of the equation:

3x is the most simplified it can be,

    4 (x+1) - x-4

    Use distributive property ... 4 (x+1) = 4*x+4*1=4x+4 then 4x+4-x-4=3x

    so therefore 3x=3x

    Answer: YES
