    Plug in y from the first equation into the second to solve for x

    X - 3 (-x + 2) = 18

    Distribute

    x + 3x - 6 = 18

    4x - 6 = 18

    4x = 24

    x = 8

    Plug x in the top equation to find y

    y = - (8) + 2

    y = - 6

    Your two answers are

    X = 8

    Y = - 6
