A certain shade of orange requires a 3 to 2 ratio of yellow to red paint. You have 6 gallons of red paint. How much yellow paint do you need?

    You can use a table to find this. 3 yellow to 2 red equals 3/2 then there are unknown gallons of yellow so we can use a question mark and 6 gallons of red.?/6 What make 2 to 6? You multiply by 3, do the same to 3. Then that equals 9 gallons of yellow paint.

    So six gallons of red equals 2 How many gallons of orange equal 3?

    6:2 as x:3

    6/2 = x/3

    3 = x/3

    3 * 3 = x/3 * 3

    9 = x

    You need 9 gallons of yellow paint
