Trent bought 3 3/4 pounds of strawberries and 2 1/6 of raspberries at the farmer's market. how many pounds of fruit did he buy?

    I would first make the mixed numbers into improper fractions 15/4, and 13/6, then you need to find the common denominator, 12, convert the equations to have the common denominator you would get 45/12, and 26/12, then add them together 71 / 12 so you would get 5 11/12
