    So we write this as an equation. The quotient of a number is the number you get when you divide two numbers, so:

    x / - 2 + 7 = 6

    now simplify by subtracting 7 from both sides

    x / - 2 = - 1

    now, multiply by - 2 on both sides to counteract the division and get x by itself

    x = 0.5
