To check whether 59 is prime Claudia divided 59 by every odd number from 3 to 29. All of the quotients had a remainder.

a. Why did she test with only odd numbers?

b. To be sure that 59 is prime, does she need to continue to divide 59 by odd numbers from 31 to 57? Why or why not?

    A. When you divide an even number by an odd number it will always result with a decimal.

    b. No, if the number you are dividing by is more than half the first number, the answer will be less than 2 anyway.
