    - (x-5) ^2-23

    The vertex is (5,-23)

The axis if symmetry is x=5

It opens down ( - sign) so it has a maximum

the maximum is at the vertex

    the maximum is y = - 23

The domain is all real numbers

    the range is y< = - 23
