Sandy bought 3/4 yard of red ribbon and 2/3 yard of white ribbon to make some hair bows. Altogether, how many yards of ribbon did she buy?

    First off, find a common denominator, (12)

    3/4

    3*3=9

    and

    4*3=12

    Then, change 2/3

    2/3

    2*4=8

    and

    3*4=12

    Then just add them together, 9/12+8/12.

    Thus, your answer, is 17/12 or 1 5/12.
