    Length of red ribbon found: 1 1/3 yd + 1 1/2 yd = 2 5/6 yd total

Length of blue ribbon: 1/2 yd + 1/4 yd = 3/4 yd total

Length of red ribbon less length of blue ribbon = 2 5/6 yd - 3/4 yd, or

    (since the LCD is 12) 2 10/12 - 9/12 = 2 1/12 yd.

Jan has 2 1/12 yd more red ribbon than she has blue ribbon.
