By only inspecting the system of equations, describe the lines as being parallel, intersecting, or coinciding. How many solutions exist for the system?

    Answer: they are parallel

    no solutions are there

    steps

    since b (y) in both cases is - 1 and a (x) is 1/2 and c (the constant value) varies. ie 6 and 1

    so

    a1/a2 = b1/b2 ¥ c1/c2

    so according to the system of equations in this case lines are parallel and thus there are no solutions
