Katie is thinking of starting a baby-sitting service and wants to figure out what percent of the population have young children. She goes to a community meeting about unsafe conditions on a playground and asks every fifth person attending the meeting if they have young children.     The reason this sample is unlikely to be representative of the population is because she is only interviewing a community meeting, whereas the population of the world is 8 billion. It is not a good example of what the population is, because the meeting probably only has, tops, 100 people. The ratio here is 8 billion/100, which is why this sample is unlikely to be representative of the population.
