    Remark

The way this is written, the minus sign is not effected by the power (x). In order for x to affect the minus sign, you need to use brackets.

f (x) = (-2) ^x Since it is not written this way, the answer will be minus

    Formula

    f (x) = - (2) ^x

    Solve

f (-2) means that x is - 2 where ever you see it

    f (-2) = - (2) ^-2

    f (-2) = - (1/2) ^2

    f (-2) = - (1/4) Answer
