    Since you say confidence level, you are implying a two-tailed test.

    Confidence = 95 % means 100-95 % = 5% is outside the range.

    So a two-tailed Alpha = 0.05

    One-sided equivalent is from 2.5 to 97.5 % (95 in the middle).
