Brenda bought $36 in school supplies. with a 6% sales tax, what was her total?

    The equation will be 36 + (36*0.06) = x where x is the total and 36*0.06 is the addition of sales tax (% to decimal is / 100)

    36*0.06=2.16

    36+2.16=38.16

    $38.16 is the total cost.
