3 pieces can be made with the pipe

Let x=length of second piece.

So first piece is twice this length - -> 2x

and third piece is 6 feet longer than second - -> x+6

Together we have 2x + x + x+6 = 24

4x + 6 = 24

4x = 18

x = 18/4
