    Answer 1 ...

    j = 3k

    2j + k = 875

    substituting the first eqn into the 2nd

    2 (3k) + k = 875

    6k + k = 875

    7k = 875

    k = 875/7 = 125

    thus j = 3 (125) = 375

    Answer ... 2

    m = 3j

    m+j = 24

    3j + j = 24

    4j = 24

    joe = 6yrs

    mary = 3 (6) = 18yrs

    1 answer

    weight of karen = k

    weight of john = j

    by the question

    j=3k

    then

    case II

    2j + k = 875

    2*3k+k=875

    7k = 875

    k=875/7

    k=125

    now

    j=3k

    =3*125

    =375

    hence john was 375 pound and karen was 125.

    2 answer

    let Mary be m and joes be j

    by question

    M=3J

    CASE II

    M + J=24

    3J + J = 24

    J = 24/4

    J=6

    NOW

    M=3*6

    M=18

    Therefore Mary was 18 yrs old and Joes was 6 yrs old.
