    27 lb/sq. in

    Step-by-step explanation:

    If pressure is directly proportional to depth d then it can be mathematically written as

    P=kd where k is constant of proportionality

    To find "k" we substitute value of p = 3.6 lb/in2 and d = 8 feet as given in problem

    3.6=k8

    =>k = 3.6/8 = 0.45

    k=0.45

    Thus relation of pressure and depth can be written as

    p = (0.45) d

    If the depth is 6ft,

    p = (0.45) (6) = 27 lb/sq. in

    Thus pressure is 27 lb/sq. in when the depth is 6 feet.
