172*2=344

344+12=356

So a few things

Mark up = cost * 2

Start sale price - sales tax

(Cost + markup) = above's answer

So ...

$162 - 12 = 150

Cost = X

X + 2 (x+10) = 150

3x + 20 = 150

3x = 130

X = 43.34

Tricky part is that "Mark Up" means espérate from cost so that may throw you off. Thus why it's (x + 2 (x+10)) instead of something else. Goodluck.
