Some engies require oil to be mixed with gasoline. For every gallon of gas used, 4 ounces of oil should be added. How much gas is needed if 12 ounces of oil are used?

    1 gallon of gas requires 4 ounces of oil

    X gallons of gas require 12 ounces of oil

    1/4 = x/12

    4x = 12

    x = 12/4

    x = 3

    .

    Therefore, 3 gallons of gas are needed.
