    Variables:

    number of bran muffins: x

    number of blueberry muffins: y

    Cost=> (1) 2x + 4y = 400

    Ratio=> (2) y = 2x

    Solution:

    Equation (1) + Equation (2)

    2x + 4y + y = 400 + 2x

    => 5y = 400 = > y = 400 / 5 = 80

    From equation (2) y = 2x = > x = y/2 = 80/2 = 40

    Answer: 40 brand muffins and 80 blueberry muffins.
