Volume of empty space = Volume of box - Volume of cylinder

Volume of box = 96 cubic units (given)

Volume of cylinder = πr²h where r = radius and h = height.

Diameter of cylinder = 4 units (given)

    Radius of cylinder = 1/2 diameter = 2 units

Height of cylinder = 6 units (given)

    Volume of cylinder = π (2) ² (6) = π (4) (6) = 24π cubic units ≈ 75.40 cubic units

    Volume of empty space ≈ 96 - 75.40

Volume of empty space ≈ 20.60 cubic units
