In algebra, when doing index notation, if the denominator has a higher index value than the numerator, what would simplifying the answer be?

For example:

c² : c³

    No matter what the indices are just follow the law of indices for division:

    xᵃ : xᵇ = xᵃ - ᵇ. Most importantly the base x must be the same.

    c² : c³ = c² - ³ = c^ (-1) = 1/c
