A vendor sells 60 pieces of fruit that are either apples or oranges. The ratio of apples to oranges is 3: 2. How many apples did the vendor sell? How many oranges did the vendor sell?

    36 apples, 24 oranges

    For this, each 'group' contains 5 fruits; three are apples; two are oranges. Take 60/5 is 12. then multiply 12 by each number of apples and oranges in each group, getting 36 apples and 24 oranges.
