How does the current through r1 compare with the current through r2 immediately after the switch is first closed?

    The diagram shows a parallel circuit containing two resistances r1 and r2. when there is a parallel connection, the current adds up at the kirchoff joint. This means when the current goes through r1, then the current is diminished going to r2.
