Simple, you're solving for x
Thus,
3x+1/2=4
Move the 1/2 over to the other side
3x+1/2=4
-1/2 - 1/2
Making it,
3x=3.5
Then divide by 3; making your answer
x=1.16666666
or 1.2 rounded.
