    3x-y=-2

    y=2x+3

    substitute y into first equation

    3x - (2x+3) = - 2

    distribute

    3x-2x-3=-2

    add

    x-3=-2

    +3 both sides

    x=1

    solve for y

    y = 2 (1) = + 3

    y=2+3

    y=5
