    Distribute 5 to x and 5 to - 2 so you have 5x-10=7

Distribute the 5 with both the X and - 2 then you get 5x - 10 = 7, then you add 10 to both sides of the equation, then you should get 5x = 17, finally you divide by 5 and you should get X = 3.4
