Amy is making a cookie recipe which uses 1/2 teaspoon of sugar per batch. She wants to make 5 batches. How many teaspoons of sugar will she use?

    If 1 patch = 1/2 teaspoon

    then 5 patches = x (cross multiply)

    1 * x = 5 * 1/2

    x = 5/2

    x = 2 1/2

    therefore 5 patches would use two and a half teaspoons
