You want to get the terms that have w in them to all be on the same side. It's easier to get the 3w to move to the other side, so we'll subtract 3w from both sides:

    5w + 9z = 2z + 3w

    -3w - 3w

    then, you get: 2w + 9z = 2z

you can also move the 9z over to the left to continue isolating the w

    2w + 9z = 2z

    -9z - 9z

    which then gets you: 2w = - 7z

to solve for w, you just divide both sides by 2 to get w:

    (2w) / 2 = w and then you can just leave the right side as (-7z) / 2

so the value of w would be - 7z/2

    good luck!
