    A kite is a four-sided polygon with two sets of equal side. If we let x be the length of the first two sides, we represent the length of the second set as 2x-5. Given the perimeter,

    P = 2L + 2W

    8 = 2 (x) + 2 (2x - 5)

    The value of x is 3. Thus, the sides of the kite measure 3 cm, 3 cm, 1 cm, and 1 cm.
