    X=bigger group

    s=smaller group

    46=s+x

    x=2s+7 1.) Substitute

    46=s+2s+7 2.) Single out the variable

    39=3s 3.) Divide to remove 3 from s

    1/3 (39) = 1/3 (3s)

    13=s

    46-13=39

    x=39

    s=13
