The gas in a cylinder has a volume of 7 liters at a pressure of 103 kPa

The pressure of the gas is increased to 219 kPa

Assuming the temperature remains constant, what would the new volume be?

    We assume that the gas given above behaves as an ideal gas. For ideal gases, we can make use of Boyle's law which states that,

    P1V1 = P2V2

    where P and V are pressure and volume, respectively. Substituting the known values,

    (103 kPa) x (7 L) = (219 kPa) x (V2)

    The value of V2 is approximately 3.29 L.
