You are designing a room for a house and are drawing a floor plan. The room is actually 18 feet wide. On your floor plan, you draw the room as 6 inches wide. What is the scale factor (scale) for the floor plan?

    If 6 inches represent 18 feet, 1 inch will represent 3 feet.

    So the scale is

    1 inch on plan = 3 feet wide in actual life
