German Silver is an alloy composed of nickel, zinc, and copper in a ratio of 3:4:13.

How many kilograms of each metal are needed to make 4 kg of this alloy?

    We calculate this problem as follows:

    3:4:13

    Total mass = 4 kg

    3x + 4x + 13x = 4

    x = 0.2

    nickel = 3x0.2 = 0.6

    zinc = 4x0.2 = 0.8

    copper = 13x0.2 = 2.6
