    Reorder the polynomial

    -6m - 9=7

    since - 9 doesnt contain a variable move it to the right side of the equation by adding 9 to both sides

    -6m=9+7

    add 7 and 9 to get 16

    divide each term in the equation by - 6

    -6m/-6 = - 16/6

    reduce

    m = - 8/3

    -9-16m=7

    (+16m) (+16m)

    -9=7+16m

    (-7) (-7)

    -16=16m

    (/16) (/16)

    -1=m (or m=-1)
