    A) x + y = - 39

    B) x * y = 10

    From A) we see x = - y - 39 then we substitute this into B

    B) (-y - 39) * y = 10

    -y^2 - 39y = 10

    -y^2 - 39y - 10 = 0

    y = - 38.742

    x = -.258
