    Base=2x-70

    width=x

    perimeter of a rectangle=2 (base) + 2 (width)

    We can suggest the next equation:

    2 (2x-70) + 2x=910

    4x-140+2x=910

    6x=910+140

    6x=1050

    x=1050/6

    x=175

    base: 2x-70=2 (175) - 70=350-70=280

    Answer,: the length of the base would be 280 ft.
