How do you simplify the expression √ 147 and give the resulting expression. instead of using the radical symbol, describe the expression.

    √ (xy) = (√x) (√y)

    and

    √ (x^2) = x or (√x) (√x) = x where x=x

    split into factored form

    147=2*7*7

    so

    √147 = (√2) (√7) (√7)

    look, the 7's are dobuled

    now we have

    (√2) (7)

    or

    7√2

    the expression is simplified
