You would be using 2 and a half cups because if it's $7 to get in and $2.50 for each cup ... then 7+2.50 = 9.50 and 9.50+2.50+12 and then you would half half left of 12.50 so 2 and a half cups

well, you would do $12.50-$7.00, and that equals $5.50. $5.50-$2.50=$3.30. $3.30 - $2.20=1.10, and you don't have enough to buy another, so add those up and you get two cups for the diagram.
