    X-9x=16 move 9 to the left side becomes - 9

    8x=16 subtract x=1 from 9x gives you 8x

    x=2 divide both sides by 8 and you get x = 2

    So get x on one side so minus x from both sides

    16=8x

    divide both sides by 8

    2=x
