    Are you really in high school?

    x - 2 = 2x - 4

    Subtract 'x' from each side: - 2 = x - 4

    Add 4 to each side: 2 = x

    To solve x-2=2x-4 you need to isolate the variables or x to one side.

    x-2=2x-4

    -x - x

    -2=x-4

    +4 + 4

    2=x

    The steps I used were: 1: isolate variable (don't forget what you do to one side of the equation you must do for the other. 2: Add four to each side to get x by itself, and your Done!
