    Rational numbers can be expressed fully in fractional form which is a/b where b is not equal zero

    example of rational numbers

    3/2

    3=3/1

    irrational numbers cannot be expressed as a fraction. many of them do not end

    an example is pi, √2

    also, the immaginary number i or √-1 is not a rational number
