    We let

    x = distance traveled by Wayne

    y = distance traveled by Winston

    z = distance traveled by Wilfred

    From the problem

    x = z

    y = 3x/2 - 2

    z = x/3 + 3/2

    Solve for x, y, and z

    From equation 1 and 3

    x = x/3 + 3/2

    x = 9/4 = 2.25

    z = 2.25

    y = 3 (2.25) / 2 - 2

    y = 1.375
