How do I solve x=y+8

and 5x+3y=12in substitution form

    5 * (y + 8) + 3*y = 12 8*y + 40 = 12, 8*y = - 28 y = - 7/2;

    x = y + 8 = > x = - 7/2 + 8 = > x = 9/2.
