    5x = y + 6

    x = 1/5y + 6/5

    2x - 3y = 4

    2 (1/5y + 6/5) - 3y = 4

    2/5y + 12/5 - 3y = 4 ... multiply everything by 5 to get rid of fractions

    2y + 12 - 15y = 20

    2y - 15y = 20 - 12

    -13y = 8

    y = - 8/13
