Ayako spent $7.80 on equal weights of beads of white and red beads. The red beads cost twice as much per punce as the white beads. How much did Ayako spend on each colour of beads?

    Ok so

    red+white=7.8

    r+w=7.8

    red=2 times cost of white

    r=2w

    therefor subsitute 2w for r

    2w+w=7.8

    3w=7.8

    divid both isdes by 3

    w=2.6

    subsitute

    r=2w

    r=2 (2.6)

    r=5.2

    $2.60 for white

    $5.20 for red
