Horses are measured in units called hands. One inch equals 1/4 hand. The average Clydesdale is 17 1/5 hands tall. What is the height in inches? In feet?

    1 inch = 1/4 hand, that means 1 hand = 1*4 = 4 inch.

    17 1/5 = [85 + 1]/5 = 86/5,

    86/5 hand = 86/5 * 4 = 344/5 = 68.8 inch,

    1 feet = 12 inch,

    68.8 inch = 68.8/12 = 5.73 feet.

    Avg. Clydesdale height = 17 1/5 hand = 68.8 inch = 5.73 feet.
