    Simplifying8x + 18 + - 1x + - 9 = 0

    Reorder the terms:18 + - 9 + 8x + - 1x = 0

    Combine like terms: 18 + - 9 = 99 + 8x + - 1x = 0

    Combine like terms: 8x + - 1x = 7x9 + 7x = 0

    Solving9 + 7x = 0

    Solving for variable 'x'.

    Move all terms containing x to the left, all other terms to the right.

    Add '-9' to each side of the equation. 9 + - 9 + 7x = 0 + - 9

    Combine like terms: 9 + - 9 = 00 + 7x = 0 + - 97x = 0 + - 9

    Combine like terms: 0 + - 9 = - 97x = - 9

    Divide each side by '7'. x = - 1.285714286

    Simplifyingx = - 1.285714286
