    7 2/3+n=9 1/12

    3•4=12

    2•4=8

    7 8/12+n = 9 1/12 (these fractions have common denominators)

switch the operation ( + to - ) and get the fraction by themselves

    8/12-1/12=7/12

    now subtract the whole numbers

    9-7=2

    finally answer 2 7/12
