Since the sum is negative, and the product is positive, they both have to be negative numbers. because (-) * (-) = +. and (-) + (-) = -.

now the number - 5 can be the sum of - 1-4 or - 2-3, try which to you multiply to get 6.

    the two numbers are - 2 and - 3
